The world of healthcare is complicated and can be difficult to navigate. In my 23 years of patient care related experience, I have been at the forefront of healthcare advocacy as a Registered Nurse, Clinical Nursing Instructor and Legal Nurse Consultant. I know how important it is for patients to understand all aspects of their healthcare, to be treated with dignity and compassion  and to know that there is someone on their side to help guide them through the process.

What is an independent healthcare consultant and advocate?  

Hospitals and insurance companies hire patient advocates, representatives, or liaisons to assist patients with their health care. Their allegiance is to their employer, and their goal is to avoid potential problems for the hospital such as lawsuits or saving money for the insurance company by recommending less expensive treatment or medications in order to save the "insurance company" money. 

As your independent healthcare consultant, I am employed by you and my allegiance is to you!  I am not paid by hospitals or insurance companies. My main concern is what is best for you or your loved one.  I advocate for you and focus 100% of my attention on improving your quality of life.  My commitment is to promote the health, safety, and rights for you or your loved one.

Why do I need a healthcare advocate?  

Chronic illness, new diagnosis, surgery, or any of the many other healthcare situations that may be life altering can lead to a great deal of stress, confusion, fear, and doubt. With today's healthcare model focusing on so many different tests and procedures, how do you know which one is right for you? How do you know which Doctor is best suited to treat your specific needs? How do you find out which facility provides the best care? With Doctors seeing more and more patients, this leaves them very little time to actually "spend time" with the patient. There are so many questions that need to be answered regarding  your diagnosis, treatment options, tests, procedures, and possible outcomes.
